CAPTIONING / TRANSCRIPTION / INTERNET OPPORTUNITIES
CAPTIONING:
With the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act into law,
court reporting graduates are finding new job opportunities for
themselves in captioning in the classroom, at seminars, during church
services, at doctor's appointments, etc. The graduate is now being
given the opportunity to pursue other career options in the reporting
field other than freelance and court work.
TRANSCRIPTION:
Text entry software allows you to virtually replace the PC keyboard
with your steno writer, which means that you can do anything on
a Windows 95 PC much, much faster than with a conventional keyboard.
Put simply, text entry software is an open invitation for success.
In
an age where everything is newer, better and faster, the ability
to produce transcripts of meetings, telephone calls, reports and
more into all common Windows 95/NT document formats with a minimal
turnaround is a much needed service. There are existing applications
for almost every business and now you can bring your skill to these
different tasks. Remember, if it requires entering information at
a keyboard, you can do it faster!
INTERNET:
The Internet has created a whole new world of opportunities and
jobs that could only be imagined a few years ago. Using the World
Wide Web, it is now possible to communicate with hundreds or even
thousands of individuals around the world.
The
realtime transmission of text on the Internet is becoming more and
more popular. It is like captioning, but without the simultaneous
broadcast of sound and video. Political debates, presentations and
shareholders' meetings are just a few of the events that are already
utilizing this facility. The Internet is also creating new businesses
for busy professionals away from their office. They can phone in
a record, a letter, report or proposal and within minutes the typed
document will be e-mailed to them.
A
virtual secretary on the Internet. Opportunities on the web are
only limited by your ability to imagine what is possible.
