Gigatron
announced its pending Windows 7 StenoCAT release at the Jacksonville Florida
StenoCAT Users Network Conference on September 17-19. Attendees
were given some pointers on preparing for the Windows 7 operating
system to be released by Microsoft in October. Senior
Customer Care Technician, Rick Louie and independent software
trainer, Paula Mecke, represented Gigatron for training sessions offered
to conference attendees.
"The training sessions
this year were the best yet," said Rick Louie. The participants who attended
the specialized training gave rave reviews, especially for the beginning,
intermediate, and advanced StenoCAT32 lessons. A session taught by trainer
Paula Mecke on indexing showed reporters how to harness the most advanced
customization techniques that would make their transcripts better and
life much easier. One user remarked "I finally understand indexing now!"
One of SUN's most
respected technical experts, Allen Sonntag, taught users how to speed
up and safeguard their PCs and laptops. He also delved into the complex
macros to help users make the most of their CAT software. A user commented,
"I learned good skills and will be changing my mind about the computer
I am going to buy next!"
SUN's veteran reporter,
Jenny Ebner, taught users how to use the latest Bridge hookups using StenoCAT
32's Vista release. Users gained valuable tips on how to refresh the attorney
and judge outputs in realtime environments.
SUN's biannual conferences
are designed to help members develop their StenoCAT 32 skills, earn CEUs,
and provide a valuable professional and social network. Having fun is
also an important ingredient! Group outings included a Dinner Social and
river taxi rides on the St. John's River. In addition to the SC32 instruction,
this fall conference offered the following classes:
- Ethics choices
and challenges for this technology age
- Troubleshooting
Realtime situations
- Networking strategies
for enhancing your career
- Financial strategies
for challenging economic times
- Preventing Identity
Theft
Also part of every
conferences, SUN invites StenoCAT technicians to provide free technical
support. StenoCAT team
members enjoy
the chance to meet with users personally and
sit with them one on one to answer a broad array of questions. "These
sessions can cover just about anything," said Rick, who has helped hundreds
of reporters over the years on subjects ranging from StenoCAT setup to
the most advanced realtime questions. "I'm really noticing how much more
computer savvy everyone is now compared to five years ago. The new technology
has really taken hold. Users are going to love our new Windows 7-ready
software that is coming out next month. It will allow them all the advantages
of the latest Windows operating system."
Saturday included
a Gigatron-sponsored lunch and numerous door prizes, including StenoCAT
32 subscriptions won by Debbie Chaney, Marcia Arberman, and Elizabeth
Barnes.
Twice annually, SUN
holds conferences in US cities and draws StenoCAT users from all over
the country. These conferences focus on getting the most out of your StenoCAT
32 software and offer additional professional seminar topics and CEU opportunities.
The spring conference is scheduled for March 25-27, 2010 in Las Vegas,
Nevada. See SUN website
for details.
